Creative Writing Club
We have been teaching Creative Writing classes since 2013, with clubs and camps now at Westbriar, Wolftrap, and Freedom Hill elementary schools. In each club, we teach students in grades 2 – 6 for an eight-week session after school.
During the eight sessions, students will:
- Enjoy creative writing
- Use more descriptions to create images for the reader
- Use effective examples
- Capture each moment
- Elicit connection and evoke emotion from the reader
- Become better writers
- Have fun!
The camp’s lead teacher has extensive teaching experience. A former George Washington University Law School Adjunct Professor of Research and Writing, she has taught the Westbriar Writing Club since 2013. She expanded it into a full-week camp at Freedom Hill Elementary School in August 2016. With a maximum of 25 students in each program, a lead teacher, and three high school assistants, Creative Writing Club provides personal attention to each child.
